EVALUASI JARAK PANDANG HENTI PADA TIKUNGAN RUAS JALAN GERUNG – LEMBAR

Gerung-Lembar are roads with flat land topography and soil slope / hill that has a lot of curve.
The traffic is also quite dense, considering Gerung-Lembar road is the main access to the port of
Lembar and Sekotong tourist area. In order to provide safety to the driver of the vehicle, therefore the
length of each road must be at least the view distance along the minimum stopping sight distance.
The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. Primary data consists of
topographic data and vehicle speed data. Secondary data consists of Gerung-Lembar road map data
and the data Gerung-Lembar road classification.
The minimum stopping sight distance is analyzed based on the speed of the road and speed based
design.
The results of this study showed there were two (2) of 5 (five) available stopping sight distance
curve that doesn’t meet the requirements of the minimum stopping sight distance based on the speed
of the pitch, which is curve III and curve V. There are 4 (four) curve that have stopping sight distance
did not meet the requirements of the minimum stopping sight distance based on the speed design,
which are curves II, III, IV, and V. The stopping sight distance that did not meet the requirement
situated on the average distance about 50 meters until 25 meters before the road curve before the
axle in a curve. The factors that affect the stopping sight distance that did not meet the requirement
are objects which reduce sight distance inside the curve, such as trees, shrub, cliff, as well as
residential areas that located on the road shoulder. Solutions that can be done to prevent accidents
due to the lack of stopping sight distance on road Gerung - Lembar include pavement widening at
curves, free side of curve fulfillment area, installation of the speed limits, installation of signs to warn
carefully before entering the curves, as well as cleans or relocated the obstructions object that reduce
visibility in the curve.
