PENGARUH VARIASI DIAMETER PISTON TERHADAP UNJUK KERJA MESIN BENSIN 4 TAK 1 SILINDER

M.Arif Mujaddid - Nama Orang;

The development of motor vehicles in Indonesia continues to experience a
significant increase. This causes the fuel consumption of gasoline in particular has increased as
well. Therefore, alternatives need to be developed by decreasing the diameter of the piston in the
vehicle. This study aimed to explore the effect of variations in the diameter of the piston against
the torque, effective power and specific fuel consumption effective (SFCE) on Honda Supra X
100 cc.
The diameter variation of piston is Ø 50 mm, Ø 47 mm, Ø 39 mm and the engine rotation
is assigned to 1500 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4500 rpm, 6000 rpm.
Based on the results of data processing ANOVA statistical analysis, variations in
diameter piston and engine rotation showed a significant effect on torque, power, and the result
of SFCE. The highest torque on the piston diameter Ø 50 mm with a torque of 0.77 kgf.m and the
lowest torque obtained at Ø 39 mm piston diameter with a torque of 0.45 kgf.m at 6000 rpm. The
highest effective power obtained on a Ø 50 mm piston diameter of 6.42 DK and produced the
lowest effective power at Ø 39 mm piston diameter that is 3.76 DK at 6000 rpm. The highest fuel
consumption on a Ø 50 mm diameter piston with a fuel consumption of 0.54 kg/hour and the
lowest fuel consumption on a Ø 39 mm diameter piston with a fuel consumption of 0.23 kg/hour
at 6000 rpm. The highest SFCE obtained at Ø 50 mm piston diameter of 0.08 kg/jam.DK and
obtained at the lowest SFCE Ø 39 mm piston diameter of 0.06 kg/jam.DK at 6000 rpm. On Ø 39
mm piston diameter decreased by 41.43 % effective power and fuel consumption decreased by
57.40 %. So It can be concluded that piston Ø 39 mm can be recommended as an alternative in
fuel economy in motor vehicles.
Keywords : piston diameter, performance, fuel consumption.
