PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN ZEOLIT ALAM TERHADAP WAKTU PENGERINGAN BIJI JAGUNG PADA ALAT PENGERING TIPE FLUIDIZED BED

One of the crucial process in the production of dried corn is the drying process. But farm-ers in Indonesia still have a problem in corn grain drying their crops, which farmers in Indonesia are still drying corn with the help of sunlight alone. Drying of this type is constrained by artificial drying of the season so that could be an alternative. In this research, drying with a fluidized bed dryer type with the addition of natural zeolite in the drying process. The aim of this study was to determine how the effect of adding zeolite to corn seed drying time by using a fluidized bed dryer type and how the influence of the weight ratio of the mixture of natural zeolite and corn seeds to the drying time. In the study maize seed with a mass of 1 kg mixed with natural zeolite, the ratio of the mixture used is 0:1, 1:4 and 2:3, then fluidized with hot air with a temperature of 50 ℃, air velocity enter the drying chamber used was 5 m / s. The results showed that the fastest drying times obtained at a weight ratio mixture of 2:3 which is about 65 minutes to reach the water content of 13.5%, a mixture ratio of 1:4 takes about 75.57 minutes and drying without the addition of zeolite nature takes about 86 minutes. So that it can be concluded from this study more natural zeolite is added, the drying time will be faster.
