PENGARUH VARIASI GAP RATIO TERHADAP KINERJA TURBIN ANGIN SUMBU VERTIKAL SAVONIUS TIPE L

Savonius wind turbine is a vertical axis wind turbine which can rotate at low
wind speed, wind turbines is one energy conversion machine that converts the kinetic
energy of the wind into mechanical energy. However, in the operation are still
weaknesses like no maximum winds that is used, so that the necessary changes so that
the wind can optimally use. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of wind
speed variation on the performance of vertical axis wind turbine Savonius type L.
The method used in this study is an experimental method with the dependent
variable is the power rotor (Watt), coefficient of power (CP), tip speed ratio (TSR) and
the rotor rotation (rpm), meanwhile for the independent variables in by varying the slit
turbine Savonius type L with a variation of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%, as well as
wind speed used was 2-5 m / s. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of
Production Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Mataram.
The results of this study found that the rotation of the rotor and rotor power
obtained from the maximum wind speed of 4.97 m / s in the variation gap ratio of 10%,
while CP and maximum TSR generated at wind speed of 4.63 m / s with a gap ratio of
10%.
