Pengaruh Jenis Filler Terhadap Kekuatan Geser Sambungan Aluminium Dengan Metode Adhesive Bonding Dalam Kondisi Kering Dan Basah

H. Abdurrosyid - Nama Orang;

A filler is an ingredient that is commonly mixed in epoxy adhesives to change adhesive properties, especially viscosity, water absorption properties and can increase adhesive strength. There are many fillers that can be used to improve the properties of epoxy adhesives such as flay ash, pumice, cement, CaCO3, and glass. Therefore, the filler can be used as an epoxy adhesive mixture. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the type of filler flay ash, cement pumice, CaCO3, and glass on the shear strength of aluminum joint adhesives and their failure modes in dry and wet conditions. The connection is made of aluminum with epoxy as an adhesive. The volume filler fraction in the adhesive is constant at 15%. Specimens were put into the oven for a process of curring for 18 hours with a constant temperature of 40 ° C and continued with immersion for 56 days in distilled water at 50 ° C. The specimens were then shear tested in dry and wet conditions. The test results showed that the highest shear strength value of the adhesive joints occurred in dry conditions on adhesives with fly ash fillers of 5.91 MPa and the lowest on adhesives with cement fillers of 3.45 MPa. Whereas in wet conditions, the highest shear strength occurs in adhesives with fly ash fillers of 7.68 MPa and the lowest in resin adhesives of 2.56 MPa. From various fillers inside dry conditions best performance of adhesives occurs on adhesives with fly ash fillers and worst performance adhesives occur on adhesives with cement fillers. Whereas in wet conditions the best performance of adhesives occurs in adhesives with fly ash fillers and the worst performance of adhesives occurs in resin adhesives. Overall failure of dry and wet adhesive conditions is interfacial, where interfacial failure can occur on one side and two sides for all types of adhesives.
