A rotating shaft is in fact not in a straight state, but rotates in a curved position due to its own weight or the result of a given load. At a certain rotation the shaft reaches the maximum value. The rotation that the shaft to reach the maximum value is called the critical rotation Whirling Shaft. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference of deflection and critical rotation that occurs when the variation of shaft length and disk mass size of the critical rotation (whirling shaft) test. Therefore, this research was conducted by an exp using a critical round test equipment. And the critical rotation value in the experimental method will be validated with calculations done theoretically. The test used a 12 volt DC motor with maximum rotation (n) of 3000 rpm and a critical spin machine test equipment on an ST 52 shaft with a diameter D = 0.012 m with a maximum shaft length L = 0.6 m. Tests will be carried out using the infrared remote sensor Sharp GP2Y0A41SK0F and Arduino controller with the PID algorithm. `From the research that has been done, the maximum critical rotation results on the shaft with a length of 0.4 m and a load of 0.3 kg with a critical rotation value of 2200 rpm and a minimum critical rotation occurred at the length of the 0.6 m shaft with a mass of 0.5 kg at the rotation of 1600 rpm, where the greater the loading, the deflection that occurs also increases as well as the length of the shaft, the longer the shaft, the smaller the critical rotation and vice versa, the shorter the shaft, the higher the critical rotation obtained
