PENGARUH HYBRID PARTIKEL KAR ET DAN CaCO3 PADA SIFAT-SIFAT TARIK KOMPOSIT EPOXY DI LINGKUNGAN BASAH

CaCO3 is generally used to increase the
stiffness of epoxy, while rubber particles are used to increase
the thoughness of epoxy. However its nature in wet
environment still needs to be studied. The purpose of this
research is to determine the effect of variations in the hybrid
content of rubber and CaCO3 particles on the tensile strength
of CaCO3 composite and rubber particles with an epoxy
matrix in wet condition. The research material was used tire
rubber particle filler and CaCO3, with an epoxy resin matrix.
The filler volume fraction used rubber particles (0%, 5%,
10%, and 15%) while the volume fraction of CaCO3, (0% and
2%) was in the composite. The test carried out is a tensile test
referring to ASTM D638. The parameters measured are
tensile strength, tensile strain, modulus of elasticity, tensile
toughness, water content at equilibrium and diffusion rate. To
determine the significance of the effect of the filler volume
fraction, the Two-Line Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was
used. The results showed that after immersion adding CaCO3
filler, 2% increased the moisture content in the composites
compared to those without CaCO3, but caused a decrease in
the diffusion rate of 0, 5 and 10% rubber particles and
increased at 15% levels. After the tensile test was carried out
on the karing composite, the tensile strength value was
obtained. tensile strain at fracture, modulus of elasticity and
high tensile toughness respectively in the combination of 0%
CaCO3 dan 0% rubber particles, 2% CaCO3 and 0% rubber
particles , 2% CaCO3 and 5% rubber particles, 2% CaCO3
and 0% rubber particles with values of 55,65 MPa, 0,097
mm/mm, 1,11 GPa dan 3,25 MPa , respectively. After the
engraving process is carried out for 60 days the values of
tensile strength, tensile strain, modulus of elasticity and tensile
strength tend to be constant compared to the composite in the
dry state. The highest values of tensil strength, modulus of
clasticity and tensil thoughess, the combination of 0% CaCO3
0% rubber particles, 2% CaCO3 15% rubber particles, 0%
CaCO3 0% rubber particles respectively. and 0% CaCO3 0%
rubber particles with a value of 54,12 MPa, 0,289 mm/mm,
0,83 GPa dan 3,92 MPa, respectively
