ANALISA KECEPATAN ALIRAN DAN TINGGI VORTEX MENGGUNAKAN PERANGKAT LUNAK AUTODESK COMPUTATION FLUID DYNAMIC (CFD) DENGAN VARIASI TINGGI BASIN CONE SUDUT CONE DAN DIAMETER OUTLET

Hydroelectric power plant is currently an option
to utilize renewable energy sources, but its utilization is
still on a small scale and uses simple technology. The
type of hydroelectric power is often called microhydro or
often called picohydro depending on the electricity output
generated by the generator, microhydro is a small-scale
hydroelectric power plant (PLTA), because of this power
plant utilizes river water flow or irrigation flow as a power
source to drive the turbine and turn the generator. The
vortex turbine is a type of microhydro turbine that uses a
whirlpool as the blade propulsion. The vortex turbine has
a relatively low head of 0.7 m - 3m with a discharge of
50L / s. This type of turbine is very suitable for river flow,
because most rivers have a low head.
The purpose of this study was to determine the
effect of variations in cone basin height, cone shrinkage
and outlet diameter on flow velocity and vortex height in
the basin, using Autodesk Computational Fluid Dynamic
2019 (CFD) software. The variations in the height of the
basin cone used are 700 mm, 800 mm, 900 mm and
1000 mm. The variation of cone angle is 49˚, 52˚, 55˚
and 58˚. Whereas for the variation of the outlet diameter
used, it is 85 mm, 100 mm, 115 mm and 130 mm.
The results showed that the strongest flow
velocity was found at the 1000 mm cone basin height
with 52 degrees cone angle and 130 mm outlet diameter
of 1.526 m / s. The highest vortex height is at a cone
basin height of 700 mm with a cone angle of 58 degrees
and an outlet diameter of 85 mm of 516 mm.
