ANALISA HEAT RATE PADA SISTEM TURBIN UAP BERDASARKAN PERFORMANCE TEST UNIT 3 PLTU JERANJANG

Jeranjang Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) (Steam-Electric Power
Station) is a steam power plant with a capacity of 3 x 25 megawatts (MW) on Lombok
island. One measure of the efficiency of a generating unit is its heat rate value. The heat
rate is defined as the amount of fuel energy required to produce 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) of
electrical energy. This study aims to determine the heat rate of the steam turbine system
based on a performance test.
To determine the number of the heat rate in a steam turbine system, a calculation
method based on the mass balance of steam and internal energy (enthalpy) that enters and
leaves the turbine with the output power of the generator is applied. The efficiency of the
steam turbine can be measured from the entered heat energy to produce electricity of 1
kWh and the turbine heat rate. The efficiency of the steam turbine can also be calculated
by comparing the fuel energy required for every 1 kWh with heat rate turbines.
The results indicate an increasing with energy input-output metode value of
2.095,12 kilocalories (kcal)/kWh from 3.214,12 kcal/kWh (the number during
commissioning or the first performance test) to 5.309,24 kcal / kWh in the net plant heat
rate unit 3 PLTU Jeranjang. Moreover, the energy balance metode net plant heat rate
value of 2.479,52 kcal/kWh also increased by 76,44 Kcal/kWh compared to the
commissioning or first performance test with 3.403,08 kcal/kWh. Thus, it is necessary to
evaluate to decrease the heat rate value and increase the performance of unit 3 PLTU
Jeranjang.
